State Medicaid Agencies

In keeping with the Johns Hopkins mission of enhancing the public health and welfare, ACG-Medicaid has now been created to give state Medicaid agencies interested in seeing what ACGs can do for their Medicaid programs access to the same case-mix technology in use in health services settings.

Interested in ACGs for R&D?

The flexibility of ACGs allows states with innovative Medicaid managed care programs such as Maryland and Minnesota to employ our technology in different ways to achieve risk-adjusted capitation payments for their respective programs.

ACG-Medicaid is a streamlined version of our existing ACG Case-Mix system, and is available for state-Medicaid agencies through consultants with a license at no cost, subject to the following terms and conditions:

  • License will allow for limited-use within a capitation payment program
  • Specify perpetual license for continual usage by the State
  • Not include provisions for upgrades or free user support
  • Include built-in data-use and data-request agreement
  • Ensure that JHU is properly indemnified as allowed by state law

It is recommend that Medicaid agencies use consultants knowledgeable in the use and application of ACGs to assist with the proper software implementation. Sam Schoenauer, 866.287.9243, is DST Health Solution's main point of contact regarding ACG-Medicaid. She can answer any questions about the software and assist in obtaining a license.

Interested in using ACG-Medicaid (non-state Medicaid user)?: Though the software was originally intended for state organizations responsible for setting capitation payments for respective Medicaid programs, it is possible for other organizations (such as commercial health care providers and managed care organizations) to also have access to ACG-Medicaid. Interested in ACGs for R&D?: An R&D license is available for general health services research and includes access to the complete ACG System. Research projects are limited to studies funded by government or other non-profit organizations. Activities related to the management or financing of health care to any patient population within the licensee' s organization or elsewhere and using the software for medical diagnosis are expressly prohibited.
